Dengue virus is a mosquito-borne virus that causes dengue fever, a debilitating illness characterized by high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, joint and muscle pain, rash, and in severe cases, hemorrhagic fever or shock. It is estimated that around 390 million people are infected with dengue virus each year, making it one of the most widespread mosquito-borne diseases worldwide. Research on dengue virus focuses on understanding the virus's biology, pathogenesis, transmission dynamics, and immune response, as well as developing effective vaccines and antiviral therapies. This research aims to improve diagnostic methods, develop preventative measures, and ultimately reduce the burden of dengue fever on global health.
